Editorial AI Prompt Engineer role at News Corp Australia. Join Australia's premier Editorial AI Innovation team and play a pivotal role in defining how artificial intelligence communicates with journalists. This role can be worked from any of our head offices in Melbourne, Sydney, Queensland or Adelaide.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the bridge between advanced AI technology and practical journalism. Design, test, and refine prompts that guide our AI models to meet the exacting standards our journalists require.
- Collaborate with editorial teams to build tools that enhance workflow efficiency while maintaining the integrity of quality journalism.
- Develop and fine-tune prompts to produce accurate, contextually appropriate responses for diverse journalistic applications.
- Partner with journalists and editorial teams through structured interviews and workshops to understand workflow requirements and translate them into effective AI interactions.
- Define and document excellence benchmarks for AI outputs, ensuring adherence to accuracy, relevance, tone, and editorial guidelines.
- Build and maintain a comprehensive, version-controlled library of prompt patterns and strategies for organisation-wide use.
- Share insights and successful strategies across teams to drive ongoing improvement and learning.
Who you are
- Genuine passion for journalism and understanding of modern newsroom operations
- Curiosity: a strong drive to explore and learn
- Demonstrated elementary coding experience, preferably Python, NLP, and prompt engineering with different models
- Strong grasp of language semantics and syntax, with an experimental mindset
- Excellent communication skills and ability to build trust with both journalists and technical teams
- Meticulous attention to detail and unwavering commitment to accuracy
