Position Information
Figtree High School is a large, co-educational comprehensive high school (Years 7–12) catering for approximately 900 students including 66 Aboriginal students and 170 students with a language other than English. Established in 1969, the school has a strong reputation for high-quality teaching, inclusive practice and student success, and is deeply connected to its local community. It is important to note that the Head Teacher Science will provide strategic and instructional leadership for the Science Faculty, ensuring the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning across the faculty.
Specific Selection Criteria
* Demonstrate ability to provide strong educational leadership to a diverse team, fostering high expectations, promoting quality teaching and learning, and driving student engagement across all Science disciplines.
* Demonstrated capacity to effectively lead and manage a wide-spectrum of Science programs and enrichment opportunities, ensuring inclusive, high-quality provision for students with diverse interests, abilities and backgrounds.
* Proven ability to contribute actively as a dynamic member of the Executive Leadership Team and lead initiatives that advance whole school strategic goals.
General Selection Criteria
* Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice.
* Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs.
* Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams.
* Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents.
* Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning.
* Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy.
