Program Manager - Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Engagement
Job Description
Primary Objectives
In coordination with members of the Healthy Living NT multidisciplinary team, program staff and relevant stakeholders:
* Lead consultation and effective communications with Indigenous stakeholders including people with diabetes, health services, health professionals and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
* Lead implementation of the program in the NT
* Support Healthy Living NT in our ongoing capability and capacity development to better support First Nations people.
All performance and conduct of duties shall be carried out in accordance with the principles of best practice, and in line with Healthy Living NT’s Guiding Values and objectives identified in Healthy Living NT Strategic Plan.
Responsible to the Education Manager and responsible for any program staff.
Specific Accountabilities
As the Program Manager you are to:
* Engage with Communities, the health sector and other relevant stakeholders to build relationships
* Develop and implement an annual plan for engagement and program delivery including, but not limited to, NT-wide stakeholder engagement for the localisation of the Magnet Man resource and associated peripherals (discussion cards, pictures and consumer information)
* Act as a co-facilitator in partnership with a clinical educator for the delivery of the Yarning Program to community and training of health professionals in the use of Magnet Man
1. Ensure timely and accurate documentation of contacts in NDSS Central including:
2. Initial contacts for stakeholder engagement
3. Co-facilitated Yarning sessions to community
4. Co-facilitated Health professional training
5. Maintain a comprehensive Excel spreadsheet of community and stakeholder contacts including requests for program delivery
6. Ensure timely communication about program activities to facilitate program coordination with the HLNT multi-disciplinary team including, but not limited to, fortnightly updates to the Education Service meeting.
7. Implement agreed plans according to timeframes and within budget
8. Undertake all program reporting requirements with accuracy and regulatory compliance at all times
9. Manage financial resources effectively to ensure operational plans and priorities are achieved within budget and on time.
10. Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety standards and organisational policies in all projects and programs.
11. Oversee program staff in the delivery of the program.
12. Improve awareness of the NDSS and the benefits of registration for Indigenous people.
