The role you'll contribute:
Overview
The Senior Accountant is responsible for assisting with all aspects of the month end close and financial statement analysis/reporting. This will include preparing/entering journal entries and ensuring proper documentation is provided to support all entries. This position will be responsible for ensuring the balance sheet reviews are completed monthly with proper supporting documentation. This position will all be responsible for completing reporting for the various taxing authorities. Research and detailed analysis are an integral part of this position. Additionally, extensive oral and written communication skills and the ability to train other key personnel are essential. Actively participate in outstanding customer service and accept responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
The value you'll bring to the team:
* Prepare monthly journal entries including one time, monthly, or reoccurring entries.
* Responsible for ensuring the completion of monthly reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts (cash, accounts receivable, fixed assets, bad debt, contractual, etc.). This would include keeping detailed spreadsheets of the account and verifying that accounts were properly stated. The completion of these reconciliations will be performed with the help of the staff accountants.
* Assist in monitoring internal controls.
* Completing and submitting reporting for all taxing authorities, which currently included tangible property tax (annually) and sales tax (monthly). May be asked to assist in providing documentation for federal tax return (Form 990/990U).
* Assist in researching outstanding bank items and preparing journal entries.
* Training staff accountants and providing support as needed.
The expertise and experience you'll need to succeed:
* Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or related field
* 3 years responsible full-time work-related experience in accounting
Preferred qualifications:
* Masters degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or related field
* 5 years experience
