The Clinical Nurse Educator provides support and clinical development/training to staff while fostering a preceptor/mentor role. The role formulates, coordinates, and evaluates unit based educational programs; assessment and demonstration of clinical procedures.
The aim of the position is to use a participation methodology to build:
1. The capacity of individuals to deliver safe, evidenced based care, incorporating reflective practice with the aim of continual improvement.
2. A patient and family focused culture that supports the NUM and staff to deliver innovative models of care and proactively manage change.
3. The position contributes to the overall improvement of health service delivery.
Key responsibilities include providing support and mentoring to staff, formulating and coordinating unit-based educational programs, and evaluating clinical procedures. By using a participation methodology, the Clinical Nurse Educator aims to build individual capacity for delivering safe and evidence-based care, as well as promoting a patient-focused culture.
