Community Transport Services Tasmania (CTST) is a vibrant and growing not-for-profit charitable organisation committed to ensuring everyone has access to quality home care and transport support services. We proudly deliver reliable, high-quality, and safe services—including transport, home maintenance, social support, disability support, and domestic assistance across the state.

Area Connect is a state-wide flexible transport option that helps to connect people to work or training in regional areas where access to private or public transport is limited or unavailable. Area Connect is a social enterprise of Community Transport Services Tasmania (CTST) which is a government funded, not for profit community organisation.

About the Role

We currently have an opportunity for an experienced casual Driver in the Burnie and surrounds area. The successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery of the Area Connect service and will provide transport to jobseekers and participants undertaking education and training activities allowing them to increase skills and to secure and sustain employment.

* Award Classification: Grade 3 under the Passenger Vehicle Transportation Award
* Benefits: Salary packaging options available
* Schedule: Casual shifts, Monday to Friday, within standard operating hours

Key responsibilities of the position are to:

* Safely operate Area Connect and CTST vehicles of varying sizes
* Work independently using our transport software 'Trips' on the in-vehicle iPad, adapting to changes to ensure efficient service delivery and passenger satisfaction
* Ensure the provision of service is efficient and aligns to schedules and established timeframes
* Confidently use mobile devices and information technology e.g. mobile phone, iPad
* Maintain professional and appropriate relationships with passengers, employees and the general public at all times
* Ensure that vehicles are always maintained in a safe operating condition including the completion of pre-departure checks and end of day procedures
* Follow established procedures for record keeping and reporting and collect fares when required
* Work collaboratively with the Regional and Local Coordinators to communicate feedback / seek solutions to overcome any barriers to providing an optimal service
* Role model positive behaviours to participants, providing suggestions, advice, and open honest feedback where appropriate

About You

We are looking for someone who is motivated, enthusiastic and possesses the following skills and attributes:

* High standards of professionalism with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills
* Approachable, flexible and committed to the delivery of exceptional standards of service to enhance the experience of jobseekers
* Ability to work autonomously and manage your schedule effectively
* Strong computer literacy including confident use of iPad applications, mobile devices, and basic data entry skills
* Available for early starts
* MR / HR licence an advantage but not essential

All Area Connect employees must:

* hold a current C class (car) driver's licence with a minimum 2 years driving experience and a clean driving record (no major traffic violations in the past 3 years)
* hold ancillary certification (PPV - Other) or be willing to obtain within 4 weeks of commencement
* possess or be willing to obtain a Working with Vulnerable Persons Card
* be willing to undergo a National Police Check which meets our screening criteria
* be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or hold a valid working visa with no restrictions on driving/transport work
