The Position
The Manager Public Affairs is responsible for driving and implementing the strategic external communications strategy for CEA Technologies.
Under the direction of the Chief of Staff, the Manager Public Affairs will play an important role in elevating CEA's profile, reputation and brand in the external domain as we transition into a Government Business Entity.
This position is responsible for the establishment, management and maintenance of media operations, as well as building and maintaining relationships with key external stakeholders.
The Manager Public Affairs will also support the Chief of Staff with Parliamentary operations, Ministerial reporting and speechwriting.
Key responsibilities:
Development of Company Communication Strategy
Development and execution of external communication plans
Establish and manage media operations, including media monitoring capability, reporting to the Executive and first point of contact for members of the media
Development of written media materials including press releases, key messages, talking points, website news articles, long form documents (such as speeches, forwards etc) and other collateral as required
Establish and manage relationships with key external stakeholders including ministerial offices, government agencies, media and industry partners
Planning and delivery of media events
Facilitation of media training
Establish and manage crisis communication capability
Speech writing for the CEO, CEO forwards, and Executive website
Oversee digital communications to ensure alignment to external communication strategy
Oversee and lead strategic approach to Company engagement in external awards, conferences and corporate subscriptions.
Support the Chief of Staff with parliamentary operations and ministerial reporting
Work closely with Manager Strategic Communication to ensure branding is consistent across external and internal channels.
Manage budget and internal reporting requirements as need.
Other ad hoc duties as required.
About You
Demonstrated depth of experience in long form writing and editorial skills
A genuine passion for written communication with ability to tailor to intended audiences
Ability to work autonomously with limited direction
Ability to undertake extensive research of a variety of topics, consolidating evidence into supporting arguments and
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Very high attention to detail
Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field is highly desirable, or demonstrated equivalent experience
An understanding of defence industry, military environment or similar would be advantageous
Awareness of parliamentary process (including question time etc.)
Eligible to obtain and maintain an AGSVA clearance – Baseline.
ITAR (Impacted positions only) - This position requires employees to access equipment and data that is subject to U.S International Traffic and Arms Regulation (ITAR).
