As we expand, we're looking for a Regional Manager, to join us on this exciting journey and play a pivotal role in the future of Rombola Family Farms overlooking our Northern Territory sights based in Mataranka and Douglas Daly.
About the role:
The Regional Manager – Farming is the lead member of the Rombola Family Farms production team. This role will oversee the entire cropping process over both of our growing sites.
Key operational accountabilities include:
* Contributes proactively and constructively to production team discussion about varietal selection based on consumer, production, and supply chain.
* Proactively manage all new varietal trials and full supply chain analysis for presentation to the Managing Director.
* Contributes constructively and proactively to production team discussion about the design of production schedules with market timing, volume, quality attributes and internal capacity constraints in mind.
* Contributes proactively and constructively to production team discussions to determine the detail of production systems to be implemented by crop.
* Monitor the agreed production schedule to ensure all tasks are completed in line with agreed timing for all plantings.
* Monitor all plantings throughout the production cycle to ensure all tasks are routinely performed to agreed standard and produce the required outcome.
* Liaise with the production team to alter irrigation, nutrition, weed, pest & disease control and sun screening in a planting as required.
* Monitor crop health and produce maturity in order to forecast volume & quality by week.
* Actively and effectively communicate with outsourced agronomists and consultants.
* Liaises with the maintenance function to ensure row cropping production teams have the highest possible equipment availability.
To be successful in the role you will possess the following:
* Minimum 5 years' experience in a management capacity within the horticulture industry
* Extensive production experience with row crops
* Skilled at crop health, production planning, pest and disease management
* Tertiary qualifications in agriculture will be highly regarded.
* Excellent communicator
* Good with numbers: analysing costs, P&L and want to have input into capital expenditure and a farm expansion plans.
* People manager, negotiator and all round good person that will thrive working in a proactive team (must be a team player)
* Flexibility in hours worked to achieve operational targets, including weekends and public holidays.
* Sound working knowledge of WH&S requirements.
* Attention to detail with a genuine sense of urgency and a "can do" attitude.
