For over 95 years, WR & D Wells Pty Ltd (Wells) has been a trusted hygiene and food safety partner across the dairy, meat, food, beverage, processing, pharmaceutical and warehousing industries in Australia and New Zealand. Wells is a part of and owned by the Vikan Group, a global leader in professional colour‐coded cleaning and food handling equipment with over 125 years of experience. We are on an exciting journey of expansion and have enjoyed sustained double‐digit growth in recent years, with plans for further growth as well as new product development and creative channels to market.

Following a recent review of the sales and account management activities within Wells, this newly‐created position has emerged. The Business Development Manager will play a pivotal role in the ongoing expansion of revenues from existing clients, as well as the development of new business opportunities, commercial relationships, and will help bring new products to market. The position will report directly to the Sales Manager.

Key responsibilities

* Develop and manage a well‐structured, effective sales plan for the regions
* Develop and maintain a deep understanding of clients' needs and business issues, and the ensuing sales solutions to address those needs
* Identify new business opportunities in various regions, with existing and prospective customers
* Take ownership for the management and growth of a specific segment of the Wells business
* Drive insightful industry research, thereby providing actionable sales leads for yourself and the team
* Ensure customers are kept appraised of all developments in the Wells product range and new products are highlighted appropriately
* Demonstrate technical sales skills and product knowledge in all dealing with existing and potential clients
* Maintain accurate and complete CRM records and reporting
* Drive a culture of positive, professional, and ethical sales activity within the sales and account management team
* Work with the Sales Manager to develop an enhanced sales strategy and planning process
* Travel to meet inter‐state customers (new or existing) as appropriate

Key requirements

* An established or up‐and‐coming Business Development Manager, you thrive on building lasting relationships which generate significant and sustainable revenue streams
* You have high levels of drive, and enjoy being part of a performance culture led with authenticity
* You have a track record in achieving territory growth, and identifying and unlocking new business opportunities
* You bring a dedication to establishing and following high quality sales management processes, as well as a passion for leading by example in sales
* A background in sales for the food and/or beverage industry is mandatory
