This is a maternity relief position and should the permanent incumbent require an early return from maternity leave, this contract of employment will cease with two weeks notice. Maternity relief positions can be for a period of up to 12 months, with the possibility of continued employment for up to a further 12 months for maternity leave reduced hours, therefore there are no claims to permanency.
Are you an experienced and passionate clinical pharmacist with a strong background in emergency or specialty medicine? We’re looking for a Senior Emergency Pharmacist to provide leadership, guidance, and advanced clinical services in our dynamic, fast-paced environment.
This role will be based at Wyong Hospital and may require travel to other locations around the District.
About The Opportunity
Pharmacist Grade 3 – Emergency Services
The Pharmacist Grade 3 – Emergency Services is responsible for delivering advanced clinical pharmacy services within the Emergency Department and associated acute care settings. The role provides expert medication management support to medical, nursing, and allied health teams to ensure safe, effective, and evidence-based patient care for emergency and critically ill patients.
You will plays a senior clinical leadership role in emergency medicine pharmacy practice and contributes to service development, quality improvement, education, and research activities. You will expected to participate actively in multidisciplinary patient management, including trauma calls, resuscitations, stroke and sepsis responses, and other emergency presentations requiring urgent pharmacological intervention.
Your responsibilities include conducting medication reconciliation and clinical review for patients presenting to the Emergency Department; identifying and resolving medication-related problems; providing therapeutic recommendations; supporting antimicrobial stewardship initiatives; monitoring high-risk medications; and ensuring compliance with medication safety standards and clinical governance requirements.
In addition, the position participates in quality improvement programs, clinical audits, medication incident review, and research activities relevant to emergency medicine and pharmacy practice. The pharmacist is expected to contribute to departmental strategic objectives and maintain professional standards in accordance with organisational policies, legislative requirements, and Pharmacy Board registration standards.
The successful candidate will demonstrate extensive experience in clinical pharmacy practice within emergency medicine, acute care, or critical care settings, with advanced clinical knowledge, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced multidisciplinary environment. Leadership capability, sound clinical judgement, and a commitment to patient safety and continuous improvement are essential for the role.

About You
* Clinical Expertise: Registered as a practicing pharmacist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), with a high level of broad generalist and/or specialist knowledge, and an unencumbered drivers licence. Please upload a copy of your licence to your application.
* Leadership: Significant experience and a demonstrated high level of competence, expertise, skill and application of clinical judgment in clinical pharmacy services relevant to defined practice area(s),as outlined within the role title.
* Collaboration: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build professional relationships across multidisciplinary teams.
* Problem-Solving: Advanced reasoning and problem-solving skills, effective time management and the ability to prioritise a complex workload while applying professional and ethical boundaries.
* Time Management: Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage a demanding workload.
* Continuous Improvement: A commitment to professional development and driving evidence-based improvements in pharmacy practice.
* Patient-Centred Care: A passion for improving patient outcomes through innovative and compassionate pharmacy services.
To be considered for this role you must be eligible to be credentialed in Partnered Pharmacist Medication Charting and meet All of the following pre-requisites:
a) Grade 1 or above clinical pharmacist with a minimum of 3 years post-registration (post- internship) experience and minimum of 12-months clinical practice in either emergency medicine, general medicines, aged care or a relevant medical speciality AND at least one other clinical rotation OR 3 medical specialty rotations.
b) Advanced Practitioner Credentials within an appropriate scope of practice (ANZCAP Registrar or above), or recent ClinCAT (or equivalent) or Mini-Clinical-Evaluation Exercise of ≥ medium complexity, graded at ≥75% consolidation level (Advanced Pharmacy Practice Framework) by a senior pharmacist.
