Overview The Occupational Therapy Services at Hospitals North West provide high‑quality, client‑centred occupational therapy to inpatients, outpatients and community clients across the North West region of Tasmania. The team works as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare environment, supporting consumers across medical, surgical, rehabilitation and orthopaedic services, as well as paediatrics and community‑based programmes. As part of the Department of Health, the service is committed to delivering safe, inclusive and evidence‑based care to improve outcomes for individuals, families and the broader Tasmanian community.

The role We are seeking motivated applicants to work as part of the Occupational Therapy leadership team to inspire and grow the next generation. This role promotes a positive learning‑organisation culture through coordinating student placements that offer exceptional learning opportunities across a range of practice settings. The successful candidate will also collaborate with other clinicians to support new graduates during their early career years and contribute to the Department of Health’s strategic priority of building a sustainable workforce.

Qualifications and Experience

A commitment to delivering person‑centred, safe and culturally responsive care.

Demonstrated knowledge or a strong foundation in contemporary Occupational Therapy theory and the ability to apply it in hospital, outpatient and community settings.

Well‑developed verbal and written communication skills, effective teamwork skills.

Additional Skills and Experience

Five or more years post‑graduate experience as an allied health professional, including experience in supervising and supporting pre‑entry students and new graduate allied health professionals.

Holding, or working towards, postgraduate qualifications in education and/or clinical teaching and learning.

Current driver’s licence.

Eligibility

Completion of an appropriate allied health professional course of study at a recognised tertiary institution and registration with the relevant National Board, or, for self‑regulated professions, eligibility for membership with the relevant professional association.

Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration (where applicable).

Details of appointment Fixed term, part‑time, day worker position, working 30.4 hours per fortnight, commencing 13 July 2026 until 9 July 2027. Hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary and benefits Salary: $123,717 to $134,336 per annum (pro rata). Employer 12% superannuation contribution. Salary above $130,900 is subject to qualifications or application to the personal upgrade scheme. Salary package includes living expenses up to $9,010 and $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year, plus other eligible benefits.

Professional Development Allowance up to $1,000 per annum.

Travel and relocation assistance up to $15,000 for overseas applicants and up to $10,000 for interstate applicants.

Professional development and accelerated pathways.

Leave entitlements, including study leave and professional development support.

Fitness Passport – access to 40+ fitness facilities across Tasmania for $14.50 per person per week or $28.05 for a family.
