Key Purpose of the Role
To provide advanced diagnostic, repair, and technical advisory services to Owen Toyota's customers and workshop staff at the Leeton branch. The successful candidate will be the primary diagnostic resource, focused on complex mechanical and electrical faults, and will facilitate high-level technical communication between the workshop and customers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
A. Advanced Technical & Diagnostic Duties
* Complex Fault Diagnosis: Utilise advanced diagnostic software and specialized Toyota equipment (e.g., Global Techstream (GTS)) to detect, analyse, and diagnose intermittent or difficult-to-resolve mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults in passenger vehicles and light commercial vehicles.
* Specialised Repair: Perform high-quality, efficient, and complex repairs in line with manufacturer specifications and Australian compliance standards.
* Vehicle Systems: Expertise in modern automotive systems, including engine management, transmission, braking (ABS/stability control), and safety systems.
* Quality Control: Conduct rigorous final testing and quality checks on vehicles following complex repairs to ensure the fault is resolved and the vehicle is safe and compliant.
B. Technical Advisory & Communication Duties
* Technical Advisor: Act as the technical liaison, interpreting diagnostic findings and demonstrating correct repair methodologies to other workshop technicians to improve overall workshop efficiency and skill level.
* Customer Communication: Communicate complex repair issues, technical findings, and costs clearly to Service Advisors and customers, ensuring high levels of customer trust and satisfaction.
* Documentation: Maintain accurate, detailed, and timely records of diagnostic tests, parts used, and repairs performed for workshop management and potential warranty claims.
Essential Skills and Qualifications (Must be demonstrated)
1. Trade Qualification: Completion of an Australian Certificate III in Automotive Technology (Light Vehicle) or an equivalent international trade qualification that passes the mandatory skills assessment.
2. Diagnostic Expertise: Proven experience and attainment of the Toyota 'Diagnostic Technician' training level, or a relevant qualification such as a Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis (AUR40216).
3. Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of full-time, post-qualification experience in a trade position, preferably within a franchised dealership environment.
4. English Proficiency: High level of English (speaking, reading, writing) suitable for communicating technical findings to both workshop staff and customers.
5. Licence: Current and valid Australian or international driver's licence.
The position is full time 38 hours per week, and position is offered at annual salary of AUD$81,640 plus Super @12% per annum plus paid annual leave and other benefits as per national employment standards of Australia.
