We're looking for a talented c-suite executive with proven leadership experience to provide visionary, values-based leadership and management as the Chief Legal Officer of the Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC).
As the Chief Legal Officer, you are QBCC's most senior legal practitioner providing legal advice and support to the Queensland Building and Construction Board, CEO & Commissioner and Senior Leadership Team. This position leads the Legal Services Division to deliver services across the organisation.
About the Queensland Building and Construction Commission
The QBCC supports Queensland by providing information, advice and regulation re maintenance of proper building standards and remedies for defective building work to promote confidence in the building and construction industry. Led by the Commissioner and governed by a Board, the QBCC's skilled, expert staff work hard to meet the needs of industry participants and the community.
The Commission regulates the Queensland building industry providing best customer service possible with service centres located throughout the State. Industry stakeholders and the community are also able to engage with the QBCC online or over the phone.
With 5.26 million people living in Queensland and more than 200,000 working in construction, the QBCC has an important task in serving our customers, contributing to growth of the Queensland economy and regulating the industry

Key Accountabilities
**As the Chief Legal Officer, you will**:
- Contribute to the Senior Leadership Team to deliver the QBCC strategy, vision and desired culture across the organisation
- Lead the Legal Division to support the delivery of the QBCC's strategic outcomes.
- Provide high quality legal advice and recommendations to the Commissioner, the QBCC Executive and the Queensland Building and Construction Board.
- Lead the Legal Division to ensure the effective and accurate provision of high-quality advisory services.
- Ensure the organisation's statutory and legal obligations are met.
- Assist and support the QBC Board and Committees to ensure best practice in governance on legal matters and that all legislative requirements are met.
- Establish collaborative working relationships across the QBCC, the Department of Housing and Public Works and with key external stakeholders.
- Lead the team to ensure policy positions and new legislation to be administered are considered, understood and embedded.

- Admission, or eligibility for admission as a Legal Practitioner of the Supreme Court of Queensland, and enrolment/eligibility for enrolment, to practice in the Federal and High Courts of Australia
