Our multidisciplinary health professionals and case managers take a collaborative approach to mental health care by linking with their patients to work together and consult within an environment appropriate to the person's needs.
Our Assertive Community Treatment Team at Katoomba Community Health Centre is growing and we’re currently looking to hire a Mental Health Clinician.
As the Mental Health Clinician, you will ensure optimal outcomes for consumers who are affected by a severe and enduring mental illness and their carers through the promotion of best practice including the appropriate escalation of care. The successful incumbent will work collaboratively utilising effective team communication with members of the multidisciplinary health team in the planning, implementation, assessment, and evaluation of patient care. The Mental Health Clinician acts as an advocate for the specific needs of all consumers and their carers including those from the indigenous population or other multi-cultural groups providing appropriate care to the patient/client undergoing specialised procedures.
In this position, you will maintain and promote a skilled standard evidenced by ethical practice, adherence to the policies and procedures of the NBMLHD and the appropriate legislation and statutory regulations. In addition, you will provide support and clinical supervision/ preceptorship/ mentoring to all students and/or staff in accordance with relevant skills and experience & effectively manage resources relevant to the service.

**What you will bring to the role**:
- Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Nursing and including eligibility for membership of relevant professional body &/or full registration (if applicable) with AHPRA.
- Demonstrated skills in mental health and discipline specific assessments and interventions and experience working with people with severe and persistent mental illness.
- Experience working in an Assertive Community Treatment Team and/or knowledge of the principles that guide service delivery within this model of practice.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate meaningfully with consumers and carers with a commitment and understanding of recovery principles in mental health service provision.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of NSW Mental Health Act, 2007.
- Demonstrated excellent communication skills including verbal, written, and good interpersonal skills.
- Computer competence and literacy.
- Current NSW driver’s licence and willingness to use for work purpose. This may include driving long distances across the Local Health District.
