As a Payroll Officer at Townsville Catholic Education, you will play an important role in delivering accurate, timely and compliant fortnightly payroll services for staff across TCE.
In this role, you'll assist with the validation and processing of payroll data in line with industrial agreements, awards, legislation and internal policies, including contracts, pay rates, leave entitlements and termination payments. You'll respond to payroll enquiries from employees, Principals, Managers and Administrators, providing clear advice and exercising sound judgement and discretion when handling confidential information. You'll also support calculations and reporting for specific award conditions and provide first-level support to third-party authorities such as WorkCover, superannuation funds and Services Australia.
You'll play a key part in identifying, escalating and resolving payroll and system issues, working collaboratively with the payroll team and our third party payroll provider to apply corrective actions and improve processes. From time to time, you'll also support broader People and Safety operations during peak periods, leave coverage and special projects, while continuing to build your capability through learning, development and cross-training within the payroll team.
You'll bring experience in payroll administration within a complex or multi-disciplinary environment, with the ability to accurately interpret and apply awards, legislation, policies and procedures. Highly organised and detail-oriented, you take a methodical approach to your work and are confident using spreadsheets, reporting tools and payroll systems. You're service-focused, values-driven and able to build strong, professional relationships across schools and office teams, working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
