About the Role

ALS Food & Pharmaceutical Division operates a modern laboratory at Rydalmere, Sydney. The division is seeking two entry-level Laboratory Technicians to become a part of the Microbiology team that strives to exceed customer expectations by delivering quality results on time and by maintaining solid relationships with their clients.

Ideal candidates will have a science qualification or lab certificate, strong communication and organizational skills, and a commitment to quality, safety, and client service. In order to meet expectations for our amazing clients, you will also need to be comfortable with working in a fast-paced environment.

To be successful for this role, you must be available to work full-time across the following days and times: Wednesday to Friday 10:45am to 7:00pm AND Saturday & Sunday 7:30am to 3:45 pm.

Please note that there may be overtime hours as required.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform microbiological testing including: Food, Pharmaceutical and/or Water sample preparation and testing
- Daily QC
- Maintain accurate and timely laboratory records and documentation
- Follow Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
- Participate in laboratory housekeeping and inventory control
- Assist in laboratory investigations and reporting
- Engage in continuous learning and on-the-job training

Requirements

- Diploma or BSc (or equivalent) in Microbiology, Biology, Biomedical Science, or a related discipline
- Strong understanding of microbiological principles and aseptic technique
- High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
- Capable to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to follow strict procedures and protocols
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- A team player with a proactive attitude and willingness to learn
