The Position
ANU's central point for internal and external communication, media relations, public events, and brand activities.
Our audiences include staff and students, journalists, government, and the public. We publish high quality communications on a wide range of channels.
We are looking for a news buff who can manage our proactive media with enthusiasm, and our reactive media with sound judgement.
Our ideal applicant will be an experienced media manager or former journalist who is calm under pressure, hard-working, and contributes to our positive team culture.
They will support ANU to showcase its world-class research and education through commissioning story ideas, editing, pitching to journalists, managing press conferences and briefings, coordinating responses to media inquiries, and managing a team of media officers.
They will also oversee in-house media training and other media engagement support for ANU staff. They need to establish and maintain effective relationships across the University, including academics, researchers, and professional staff.
Our ideal applicant will know the media landscape inside out, lead and execute proactive and reactive media engagement strategies, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. An enthusiasm for university research is essential.
