Role Description – Financial Accountant
About the Role
As a Financial Accountant at Nova, you will be responsible for supporting the Financial Controller in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing statutory and management reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. You will be involved in reconciliations, journal entries, inter-company accounting, and month-end close. This role requires strong technical accounting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
You will collaborate closely with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll officers, while also providing analysis and insights to support business decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting & Compliance
* Prepare monthly financial statements, including Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow reports.
* Ensure compliance with Australian accounting standards and company policies.
* Support the preparation of BAS, FBT, and other tax-related obligations.
* Assist in year-end statutory reporting and liaise with external auditors.
Month-End & Reconciliations
* Complete journal entries, accruals, and prepayments.
* Perform reconciliations across bank accounts, intercompany balances, and key control accounts.
* Maintain accuracy of the general ledger.
* Support the timely closure of month-end and year-end reporting.
Accounts Support & Process Improvement
* Work closely with AP/AR officers to ensure transactions are recorded correctly.
* Review reconciliations and escalate discrepancies to the Financial Controller.
* Assist in implementing stronger financial controls and process improvements.
M&A Support
* Assist with due diligence, financial modelling, and integration of newly acquired clinics.
* Ensure smooth financial onboarding of acquisitions into Nova's systems.
Performance Monitoring & Reporting
* Provide variance analysis against budgets and forecasts.
* Support in monitoring KPIs related to financial performance.
* Prepare ad-hoc reports for management and assist in decision-making.

Key Skills & Attributes
* Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CA/CPA qualified or working towards).
* 2–4+ years' experience in a financial accounting role (healthcare or multi-entity experience desirable).
* Strong technical knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards.
* Hands-on experience with Xero and proficiency in Excel.
* Excellent attention to detail, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
* Strong communication skills and a proactive approach.
