As a Senior Laboratory Technician, you will be at the forefront of supporting research and teaching activities across a wide array of laboratories. Your expertise in mechatronics, electronics, and digital systems will be invaluable as you instruct and advise on specialist equipment, manage laboratory resources, and contribute to groundbreaking experiments. This role offers you the chance to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and engage with innovative research that spans human computing interaction to autonomous systems.

Your responsibilities will include:

* Deliver Expert Technical Services: Provide technical support and guidance to staff and students, ensuring effective use of laboratory equipment and systems.
* Manage Laboratory Operations: Oversee inventory, procurement, and maintenance of equipment and consumables, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
* Conduct Research and Teaching Support: Design experiments, prototype equipment, and prepare for practical classes to enhance teaching and research outcomes.
* Ensure Safety and Compliance: Complete Quality and OHS requirements, including inspections, audits, and risk assessments, fostering a safe laboratory environment.

You may be a great fit if:

You hold a relevant degree or trade qualification in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Technology, specialising in AI, Cybersecurity, Cloud Systems, or Digital Infrastructure. Your expertise in maintaining research computing environments across Windows, macOS, and Linux, coupled with experience deploying virtual servers using Docker and Heroku, makes you an ideal candidate. You excel in managing AI and machine learning infrastructure and cybersecurity research environments, and your strong communication skills and customer‐focused approach ensure high‐quality support to academic, research, and student users.

You may also:

* Have a relevant degree or trade qualification with experience in higher education or industry R&D.
* Demonstrate proficiency in maintaining research computing environments across various operating systems.
* Possess experience in AI and machine learning infrastructure management, including HPC systems.
* Be skilled in managing mobile devices and embedded systems for IoT and cloud computing research.
* Exhibit expertise in cybersecurity environments and secure research practices.
