Northern Territory Government

OFFICE OF THE CHIEF MINISTER

Location: Level 5, Parliament House, Darwin, Northern Territory

Key Responsibilities:

1. Liaise directly with Protocol NT or event organiser to secure all pertinent event information.

2. Communicate complex operational directives clearly and to relevant stakeholders including development and coordination of event directives, run sheets and speech notes.

3. Finalise guest lists, book venues and schedule speakers.

4. Ensure maintenance of stakeholder databases.

5. Liaise with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders including Ministerial Offices, agency staff, external agencies, business and industry organisations and community members.

6. Liaise with the Minister's Executive Assistant and other relevant staff to ensure coordination of the Minister's diary for functions.

7. Attend functions, announcements and events as required.

8. Provide support to the Minister, Senior Ministerial Advisor, and other staff including after hours as required

Selection Criteria

Essential:

1. Demonstrated ability to work as a highly organised and collaborative team player.

2. Demonstrated ability to operate under broad parameters, being able to determine and negotiate priorities and manage high volumes of work and to tight deadlines.

3. High level written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate key messages to a diverse range of stakeholders.

4. High level interpersonal skills conducive to maintaining open and effective relationships with a range of clients including Ministers, senior executives, managers, consultants, and agency staff.

5. High level of computer literacy, the use of records management and database systems to coordinate and track information flow.

6. Demonstrated ability to operate astutely in a politically sensitive environment with a high level of integrity, discretion and confidentiality.

7. Ability to remain calm under pressure and a willingness to work out of hours and to travel if required.

Desirable

1. A strong understanding of Northern Territory issues.

2. Knowledge of Ministerial Offices and Parliamentary roles, functions and protocols.
