This is a permanent, full-time opportunity based at our South Brisbane campus.Mater Research is a recognised leader in medical research.
Our bench to bedside philosophy sees us working across Mater Health's hospitals and health services, The University of Queensland, and the world-class Translational Research Institute (TRI).
We are committed to working closely with Mater Health, Mater Education and our growing network of partners and collaborators to turn scientific discovery into the best possible treatment, care, and outcomes for patients and our broader community.Salary range: $62.74 - $67.20 per hour plus 12% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits
What you'll be doingSeeking a dedicated individual to support Mater Research's financial sustainability by providing crucial financial information, insights, and guidance to the Finance Manager and Executive Team.
Collaborating closely with the Finance team and offering accounting services to business units within Mater Research and Mater Group, we are seeking experienced FBPs with excellent skills in budget modules and an interest in driving system or process improvements.Understand and analyse business drivers and financial performance for Mater Research and the medical research sectorIdentify trends, opportunities for improvement, and financial risksCollaborate with senior leaders to review financial performance and develop interventionsUse tools like Power BI to analyse trends and financial impactsAssist with business case development and capital expenditure processesReconcile grants and projects, support finance best practices, and build financial literacyDevelop annual budgets and rolling forecasts for Mater ResearchLead month-end and year-end closing processes, ensure ledger integrityProvide D365 training, triage business requests, assist with process improvementSupport management and development of Assistant AccountantAbout youThe ideal candidate will have a minimum three years of relevant experience in health, research, or a similar sector.Proactive and enthusiastic approach with strong time management skillsProficient in Australian Accounting Standards and strategic decision-makingExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsAbility to build relationships, meet deadlines, and problem-solveExperience with Microsoft Office Suite and financial systems such as Microsoft Dynamics 365Skilled in budgeting, reporting, and cash flow management using intelligent toolsFamiliarity with financial issues in the health research sector, desiredExperience in post-award financial management of research funding, desiredWhy join us?
