Your opportunity:
The Whitsunday Regional Council is seeking a motivated and reliable Town Maintenance Worker to support the safe, clean, and efficient operation of our depot, as well as assist with road and drainage maintenance and construction activities across the Whitsunday region.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Operate trucks and plant safely and efficiently in line with manufacturer specifications and Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) legislation.
2. Assist with roads, drainage, and concrete works, including maintenance and construction activities.
3. Maintain depot grounds through mowing, whipper snipping, weed spraying, and general upkeep.
4. Manage and maintain stock records, depot consumables, tools, and equipment registers.
5. Perform vegetation maintenance around open drainage systems and township areas.
6. Complete daily timesheets, pre-start checks, and plant safety records.
7. Implement traffic management requirements in accordance with the Traffic Act and MUTCD guidelines.
8. Liaise effectively with Foremen, Technical Works Officers, and other Council staff to complete assigned projects.
9. Work independently when required and take on responsibility for task completion, quality assurance, and safety compliance in the absence of a leading hand.
10. Be available to camp on-site for remote construction or maintenance projects as required
Your skills and experience:
Essential
1. Class MR or HR/HC Driver's licence (or willingness to obtain)
2. General Construction Safety Induction (White card)
3. Traffic Control (or willingness to obtain)
4. Traffic Management Implementation (or willingness to obtain)
5. Agriculture Chemical Distribution and Control (or willingness to obtain)
6. Provide First aid and CPR (or willingness to obtain)
7. High Risk licence Forklift (or willingness to obtain)
Desirable
1. Operational Competency in Plant Operation for Roller, Backhoe, Grader, Bobcat (Skid Steer).
2. Certificate III in Civil Construction (or willingness to obtain)
