Primary objective
Responsible for the proactive leadership and the coordination and delivery of safe and efficient chauffeur services for a stakeholder
group including, the Chief Minister, Ministers, Opposition Leader, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, and Members of the
Diplomatic and Consular Corps.
Context statement
Protocol NT plays a key role in enhancing the reputation of the Northern Territory and our stakeholders through enabling
interaction of NTG officials with a broad range of local, national and international protocol and ceremonial requirements.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Lead the delivery of safe, timely and efficient chauffeur driven services for the Chief Minister, Ministers, Opposition Leader,
Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, and Members of the Diplomatic and Consular Corps and other VIP's as required.
2. Develop and maintain strong, confidential, trusted relationships with the stakeholder group and their support staff.
3. Manage and coordinate day to day operations providing and efficient 24 hour 'on call' service is provided within a budget and
employment legislation.
4. Manage a small team and undertake administrative processes including staff rostering, finance, HR, and ICT requirements.
5. Ensure all drivers are appropriately trained and clearly understand the protocols of VIP driving.
6. Manage the VIP Fleet vehicle maintenance plan and ensure vehicles are presented at a high standard daily by the Drivers.
7. Maintain operational procedures of the VIP Driver's Unit always looking to improve efficiency and delivery of services.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Proven supervisory and management experience with the ability to work in a small dynamic team in a high paced sensitive
environment.
2. Excellent organisational skills with a demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple tasks while working under tight
timeframes.
3. Have a clear understanding of security, safety and confidentiality requirements associated with transporting VIP personnel.
4. A demonstrated work history of flexibility, reliability, and punctuality, and maintain personal standards of grooming.
5. Proven ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality and act with diplomacy and discretion.
6. Demonstrated efficiency in the use information technology, including emails, calendar management, and databases.
7. Ability to obtain an unrestricted Northern Territory driver's licence, and knowledge of demographics of the Northern Territory
Desirable
1. Defensive driving credentials.
2. Hold a current Senior First Aid certificate.
3. Knowledge of NT government procurement, financial and human resource policies.
