Overview
The Western Ringtail Possum 2026 Autumn Tally is on again and we need your support to help save this critically endangered species. This will be Wirambi Landcare's 9th time coordinating this important project.
From April 1 to May 2 you will have the opportunity to be involved in this program. The tally is a citizen science program aimed at increasing our knowledge and data about these critically endangered species which are found nowhere else in the world. This information will be used to make better informed decisions about the conservation effort of the species and you, the general public, can play an important role in this.
This volunteer role is extremely flexible as it can be done within the comfort of your own home or during your walks around the neighbourhood or local reserve. The survey will take 30 minutes of your time which you can complete once or twice a week.

* Workshops (online or in person)
* Provide data collection sheets
* Training in how to complete the data sheets
* Assistance in identifying a Western Ringtail Possum

* Commitment: Regular - less than 6 months
* Time Required: This role takes about 30 minutes per survey; you can observe once or twice a week in the late afternoon or evening, whichever suits you.
* Training: Online or in-person workshop; dates will be confirmed in the coming weeks.
