Maitland High School is an inclusive and proudly comprehensive high school serving a diverse community.
We are dedicated to working in partnership with our students and community to create a culture of high expectations where all students feel empowered to strive for their best.
Located in the Lower Hunter region, Maitland High School has a Specialist Support Unit which has eight classes.
The student population of 1088 has been steadily increasing over the last four years.
While 6% of our students identify as having a non-English speaking background, only 2% require some level of EAL/D (English an additional language or dialect) support. 17% of students identify as having an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background.
Students at Maitland High School participate in a wide range of learning experiences by accessing a broad curriculum designed to meet the diverse learning needs of all students.
**Selection Criteria**:
- Approval to teach English (7-12) and willingness to teach English Extensions 1 & 2.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a faculty team to enhance reflective teaching practice, develop and successfully deliver differentiated programs and practices that challenge and meet the diverse needs of all students.
- Understanding of cultural and educational needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and a commitment to improving their educational outcomes.
- High level interpersonal and communication skills with the capacity to build positive relationships with students, parents, staff, and the wider community.
