A bit about the role

As a Governance Officer, you will work within a business partnering model to support compliance with Council's Good Governance Framework and Document Lifecycle Framework. You'll play a key role in developing, reviewing, and implementing policies and procedures that strengthen Council's governance and compliance responsibilities.

This is a part-time (22.8 hours per week) limited-tenure role until July 2027. The working days will be Monday, Tuesday and Thursdays to support with business requirements. What you'll deliver

* Provide support to Managers and people leaders to find innovative solutions to governance issues and concerns and support the implementation and management of Council's Good Governance Framework and Document Lifecycle Framework.
* Coordinate quarterly 'endorsed document' review schedule and approve endorsed documents where administration updates have been identified.
* Coordinate the Initial and Bi-annual Personal Interests Returns process in line with delegation requirements, the Local Government Act 2020, and the Local Government (Governance and Integrity) Regulations 2020.
* Champion best practice governance through pro-active training sessions on good governance, policy making and other governance/ transparency/integrity and legislative compliance requirements in collaboration with Integrity Business Partners.
* Provide advice to Council staff on Governance matters, including but not limited to policies, gifts and personal interests returns, and relevant procedures, ensuring issues are identified and managed and strict timelines are met.

What you'll bring

* Knowledge of the Local Government Act 2020 and relevant legislation.
* Demonstrated knowledge and capacity to promote good governance, ethical decision making and corporate responsibility, preferably in the public sector.
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy to support the management of public registers.
* Qualifications in a relevant field (such as Business Management/Administration, Politics) and knowledge, skills and experience in a similar position.
* Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check and Eligibility to Work check.
* A curious, collaborative, and inclusive community mindset.
