Work at the cutting edge of composite innovation and digital manufacturing.
Zone Manufacturing is home to some of the most advanced composite and digital tooling capabilities in Australia. Through our specialist division, One Composites, we design and manufacture high-performance components for industry-leading clients across marine, automotive, defence, and custom sectors.
Powered by world-class digital infrastructure—including 5-axis and 7-axis robotic milling systems, advanced CAM workflows, and hybrid additive technologies—our Digital Tooling team is redefining what’s possible in large-scale composite fabrication.
As we scale our capabilities, we’re looking for an experienced and forward-thinking CNC leader to take the reins on complex multi-axis programming and play a key role in shaping our group-wide standards.
About the Role
As the CNC Programming and Operation Lead – Digital Tooling, you’ll be the technical anchor for advanced CNC machining across the entire One Composites division.
You’ll develop, implement, and refine CNC toolpaths for 3-axis, 5-axis, and robotic 7-axis systems. You’ll also take the lead in standardising code structure and machining methodologies across platforms and business units.
This is a hands-on, high-autonomy role that mixes precision programming, production problem-solving, and strategic collaboration with engineering, design, and fabrication teams.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and refine multi-axis CNC programs using complex CAD/CAM data
* Lead the design and standardisation of CNC code and workflow documentation
* Operate across 5-axis CNC mills and robotic systems (ABB, KUKA)
* Troubleshoot and resolve machining issues involving geometry, materials, and toolpath logic
* Align machining strategies with engineering, cost, and quality requirements
* Optimise CAM workflows for efficiency, accuracy, and tool life
* Maintain digital libraries of post-processors, toolpath templates, and machine code
* Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior programmers and operators
* Contribute to new equipment integration and tooling R&D
* Support projects involving large-format additive manufacturing and hybrid digital fabrication
About You
You’re a CNC leader with advanced programming ability and a sharp engineering mind. You thrive in technical problem-solving and enjoy working with the most advanced digital tooling technology available.
You’re equally comfortable behind a keyboard and on the factory floor—and you take pride in building systems, knowledge, and capability that go beyond a single project.
You’ll be a strong fit if you have:
* Extensive experience in CNC programming and machining, particularly with 5-axis and 7-axis systems
* Advanced CAM software skills (e.g., RhinoCAM, Fusion 360, Mastercam)
* Strong knowledge of post-processing, G-code/M-code, and controller interfaces
* Experience standardising CAM workflows and documentation across multiple platforms
* A hands-on approach to troubleshooting and continuous improvement
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills across engineering and production
* A desire to work on complex, high-value composite tooling projects across industries
Why Join Us?
* Work with world-class robotic and CNC technology on innovative, large-scale projects
* Join a highly skilled team in a fast-growing advanced manufacturing environment
* Enjoy the lifestyle and location benefits of the Sunshine Coast
* Influence the future of CNC operations across multiple business units and industries
* Be part of a purpose-led company pushing the boundaries of what's possible in composites and digital tooling
