ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Located 20km west of Sydney on Dharug country with a population of over residents Cumberland City Council is the fourth most populous Local Government Area in Greater Sydney. ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Local and Family History Librarian maintains and develops resources relating to the history of the Cumberland Local Government Area (LGA) for inclusion in the Local Studies collection and to assist with maintaining and developing resources for the Family History / Genealogy collection.

The successful applicant will require :

* Degree or postgraduate degree in Library and Information Science and / or relevant tertiary qualifications in local studies / historical studies / genealogy / preservation or relevant experience
* Eligible for Associate membership of ALIA if Library degree held
* Experience in local studies and genealogy
* High level of interpersonal and customer service skills
* Working with Children Check number.

About this role :

* Permanent full-time position
* 70 hour fortnight
* Access to Councils 9 day fortnight Rostered Day Off (RDO) arrangement
* Located at Councils Merrylands and Auburn Libraries with occasional travel required across Council worksites and may be required to work across any of Councils work locations
* Grade 10 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $ to $ per week plus 12% superannuation
* The commencing salary will be negotiated taking into consideration the successful applicants qualifications skills and experience related to the role.

What youll need to have for this role :

* The right to live and work in Australia
* Be able to provide information for pre-employment checks required for the position including attending a physical pre-employment medical examination as required
* Participate in health monitoring as outlined in the risk assessment for this position and Councils Health Monitoring Procedure as required
