Offer description

Overview

At James Watson Centre, you'll help create the moments that make life feel rich and human — the smell of fresh baking drifting from a cooking class, the laughter that erupts during bingo, the quiet pride of someone finishing a painting, or the deep calm of a thoughtful afternoon of chess and conversation.

As our Lifestyle Assistant, you get to design days that feel like home for the residents who live here — men who've experienced homelessness and hardship and are now living out their life in their forever home. You'll discover who lights up at the sound of opera, who can't be beaten at cards, who loves horses, and who beams when their favourite movie genre comes on. Then you'll turn those interests into activities, routines and moments that matter.

And whether you're looking for full‐time, part‐time or a job‐share arrangement, we're open — because the right person is far more important than the roster.

Responsibilities

* Build genuine relationships with residents and support their emotional, social and cultural wellbeing.
* Develop, plan, set up and deliver lifestyle programs and group activities.
* Support residents one on one to participate in the things they love.
* Notice and report any changes in behaviour or care needs.
* Help manage activity resources and funds, and occasionally heading out.

Qualifications and Experience

* Certificate IV in Leisure or Allied Health or similar with related work experience will get our attention. Alternatively, we are open to applicants who hold a Certificate III in Individual Support (Aged Care) or similar with at least 12 months aged care experience and willing to obtain further training.
* Outstanding communication and people skills and the ability to build relationships quickly.
* A passion for variety and creativity - offering a mix of engaging group and individual activities.
* Confidence to take charge, find solutions and work autonomously.
* Tech‐savvy with MS Office Suite and computer skills at the ready.
* A valid driver's licence is essential.

What's in it for you?

* Pay: Competitive salary, plus NFP salary packaging giving you the potential to gain $15,900 in tax benefits.
* Leave: 28 days annual leave, that's 3 days more than the standard 5 weeks (pro rata if part time).
* Perks: Lots of social activities, expand your experience by joining a consultation committee, and see the mission.
* Hours: We are open to full‐time, part‐time or a job‐share arrangement, because the right person is far more important than the roster.
* Career development: Training, accessible leaders, growth and advancement opportunities.
* Culture: Exceptional workplace culture – we work hard and have fun while we do it.
