ABOUT THE ROLE
Are you passionate about corporate governance and skilled at providing exceptional support to leadership teams? The University of Sydney Union (USU) is seeking a meticulous and proactive Governance Coordinator to support its leadership team and Board.
Our Governance Officer ensures USU maintains robust governance practices, complies with constitutional and regulatory standards, and delivers high-quality administrative support.

The USU is Australia's largest student-led organisation, enhancing the student experience at the University of Sydney. As a not-for-profit, we support over 200 clubs, events, and leadership opportunities. WHAT YOU WILL DO
Act as Assistant Board Secretary, coordinating Board, Committee, and General Meetings, and ensuring compliance with the USU Constitution and Regulations.
Provide governance support, including drafting amendments, briefing papers, and corporate documentation.
Support the planning and execution of USU's Elections process, working collaboratively with USU's Student Experience team.
Coordinate policy reviews, maintain USU's policy, contracts and risk registers, and ensure compliance with governance frameworks.
Support the CEO with executive support, analysis, reporting, and coordination of special projects.
Assist in managing USU's Risk Management Framework and Document Management System
Serve as a central communication point for Board Directors, staff, and stakeholders, ensuring efficient information flow.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
5+ years of experience in a senior governance and/or administrative role, and/or prior experience in an EA, legal/company secretary, or similar position.
Strong understanding of corporate governance principles and adherence to confidentiality.
Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Highly literate with excellent grammar, spelling, and attention to detail.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage professionally with diverse stakeholders.
HOURS OF WORK
Full-time, 35 hours per week.
