Who We Are:
Aussie Orchards is a family run business focused primarily on growing and packing Avocados. With orchards and packing sheds in North QLD and Northern NSW, we supply to major supermarkets, contract packers and wholesalers.
This role will be based on our Mutchilba farm in the Mareeba, QLD area on the Atherton Tablelands. A house and utilities can be included in the salary package.
About The Role:
HANDS ON management position is responsible for the day to day operations of avocado orchard. Working closely with the owner, you will oversee the implementation of farm plans focusing on crop management, equipment and building maintenance and maintaining records.
What We Are Looking For:
An experienced farm hand/manager with a background in avocados or similar produce. The role requires a mechanically minded person with exceptional skills in using and maintaining farm equipment. Experience implementing spray programs and a willingness to take pride in maintaining the farm to the highest of standards is a must.
What You Will Do:
Orchard maintenance – spray, fertilise,prune and harvest
Irrigation oversight – manage irrigation activities, monitor water usage and maintain infrastructure.
Equipment and building maintenance – ensure farm equipment and buildings are well maintained and WHS compliant.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Proven experience in operating farm machinery
Basic mechanical knowledge and the ability to maintain equipment
Hold or willingness to obtain ChemCert
A valid manual Australian drivers licence
