Structural Engineer at Babcock Australia & New Zealand — join to apply for this role in an integrated product team delivering engineering support for the Defence High Frequency Communications System and related projects.
Responsibilities
* Perform structural analysis, acceptance testing, certification, and troubleshooting across a variety of steel and concrete structures.
* Contribute to the design and assessment of structures, including steel lattice towers, guyed structures, and concrete foundations, as well as floor, wall, and roof loadings.
* Occasional interstate travel to work across diverse environments and challenges.
About You
You are a qualified Structural Engineer with strong experience in structural analysis and design, ideally with steel lattice or similar large-scale structures. You should apply engineering principles across the full lifecycle of a project, from initial assessment through corrective procedures and compliance assurance. You are comfortable working within formal engineering documentation systems and produce clear, accurate, high-quality outputs. You take a proactive approach and look for improvements in processes, designs, or safety practices.
To be successful in this position you will bring:
* Previous experience, ideally in RF Transmission towers within a Defence environment
* Demonstrated Structural Engineering experience
* Demonstrated knowledge of AS 4100, AS 3600, AS 3995 and AS 1170
* Experience in design of preventative/corrective maintenance of guyed steel lattice structures with concrete foundations
* Well-established verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage with all business stakeholders
* Understanding of the Defence Capability Life Cycle is desirable
