Job Title: Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) – Mental Health Ward (Temporary Full Time) from August2026 to February2027.
Location: Shoalhaven Memorial Hospital (SMH).
Salary: $146,423.50 per annum + 12% super & salary packaging.

Job Overview
This temporary leave‐relief position will be in charge of the Mental Health ward, ensuring high‐level patient care and fostering a supportive environment for staff. The role includes overseeing all clinical, administrative and personnel functions within the unit and guiding the ward in accordance with health service standards.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate patient services and ensure high‐level care for patients in the mental health ward.
- Oversee clinical, administrative and personnel functions within the unit.
- Lead and mentor a dedicated team of health professionals, fostering a supportive work environment.
- Act as the registered nurse in charge, guiding ward operations and maintaining quality and efficiency of patient and staff services.
- Manage unit operations and performance to meet department standards and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to plan and implement patient care strategies.
Qualifications and Eligibility
- Registered Nurse with appropriate nursing registration.
- Current AHPRA registration.
- Experience in mental health nursing and leadership in a ward or unit setting.
- Good communication, organisational and problem‐solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Compliance with applicable vaccination requirements for a CategoryA role.
- Working With Children Check (WWCC).
