As a key contributor to the Portfolio Analysis Group, you will be working closely with financial management systems and Excel to provide high-quality analysis and advice on budget allocation.

The Portfolio Analysis Group advises the Treasurer on resource allocation and is responsible for providing expertise on policy and programs, monitoring departmental performance, and promoting effective financial management.
Your key responsibilities will include:
* Using financial management systems and Excel to update, consolidate, report and analyse monthly, quarterly, mid-year and annual budget information;
* Providing budget and financial management analysis and advice on whole-of-government issues, including funding of government services and programs;
* Assisting with the authoring and coordination of briefings and other financial inputs to decision making for various publications and reports;
* Contributing to the critical and constructive challenging of processes and identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation across the Portfolio Analysis, Division and Department.
You will work closely with direct team members and other teams across PA, the Division and Department to deliver work priorities to meet strict deadlines. You will also contribute to maintaining a positive and healthy team culture.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to establish and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders within the Department and with other central and portfolio agencies.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
* Commitment to working in the public sector;
* Ability to use financial management systems and Excel to contribute to consolidation, reporting and analysis of budget estimates and financial data;
* Strong numerical skills, and experience in budgeting, financial accounting and reporting, including an understanding of government's fiscal aggregates;
* Good computer literacy skills, particularly with Excel, PowerPoint and Word;
* Teamwork skills, with the ability to deliver assigned team priorities and maintain performance standards while supporting a positive team culture;
* Building and maintaining productive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will have excellent numerical skills, and demonstrated experience in finance and accounting concepts. A relevant accounting and finance qualification would be highly regarded.
