The Role
As the Safety Officer, you'll play a pivotal role in fostering a safe and compliant workplace culture across our Adelaide site. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you'll partner closely with the Head of Safety and site leaders to develop, implement, and continuously improve workplace health and safety systems and practices.
Key responsibilities include:
• Lead by example to promote and enhance personal and workplace safety.
• Collaborate with the Head of Safety and OHS to create, implement, and review Safe Work Procedures and Risk Assessments.
• Perform site-based audits and safety walks to identify and address risks.
• Focus on reducing Lost Time Injuries (LTI) and Medical Treatment Injuries (MTI) and their severity.
• Act as the RTW Coordinator, handling workers' compensation and return-to-work processes for injured employees.
• Present safety briefs to site management teams, providing updates on safety statistics and actions.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies to maintain compliance with mandatory regulations and safety standards.
• Coach employees and managers on health and safety initiatives and ensure appropriate training and resources for first aid.
The Person
The successful applicant for the role will have demonstrated experience in a similar role, ideally within the FMCG industry as well as:
• Strong communication skills both written and verbal
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role
• Be able to contribute to a positive and professional team environment
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Proficient use of the Microsoft Suite (Word, Outlook and Excel)
• Ability to influence and make decisions
• Mechanical aptitude or prior manufacturing experience would be desirable
• A proactive, approachable style and a passion for continuous improvement
