The Role:
As a Senior AI Engineer / AI Lead, you will design and deploy AI and machine learning solutions that directly improve the performance, reliability and efficiency of renewable energy systems.
This is an in initial 6-month contract role as part of a project with a clear mandate to deliver a highly anticipated AI use case, into production.
You'll work closely with engineers, data teams and product leaders to turn complex energy data into production-grade AI systems that support critical operational and commercial decisions.
This role combines hands-on technical delivery with technical leadership.
What You'll Be Working On:
* Developing and deploying machine learning models for:
* Energy generation and demand forecasting
* Battery and storage optimisation
* Asset performance and predictive maintenance
* Grid and market optimisation
* Building scalable, production-ready AI pipelines and MLOps frameworks.
* Translating energy and operational challenges into AI-driven solutions.
* Collaborating with engineering, operations and commercial teams to embed AI into core systems.
* Mentoring engineers and helping shape the company's AI strategy and standards.
Core Skills & Experience:
* Strong Python skills and hands-on experience with ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn).
* Experience deploying ML models into production environments.
* Solid understanding of data pipelines, feature engineering and model monitoring.
* Experience working in cloud environments (AWS, GCP or Azure).
