This role is ideal for a hands‑on leader who enjoys balancing people leadership, operational performance, and continuous improvement—while being supported by experienced central teams across safety, fleet, and environment.
Responsibilities
* Leading and supporting your team across the Warrnambool and Hamilton branches, fostering a positive, inclusive, and high‑performing culture
* Overseeing day‑to‑day operations across a complex, multi‑service site, including a public‑facing transfer station and council contracts
* Championing safety and wellbeing, creating an environment where people feel confident to speak up and go home safe every day
* Managing fleet and site operations, ensuring vehicles and equipment are safe, compliant, and well maintained
* Driving operational performance, balancing service delivery, efficiency, and cost management
* Owning the branch financials (P&L), with support and guidance to help you succeed
* Collaborating with internal experts across safety, environment, and fleet to ensure best practice outcomes
* Contributing to local projects and improvements, with the opportunity to influence how things are done
Qualifications
* Solid prior experience in managing unionised, operational teams within the waste, logistics, commercial or Government industry is desirable
* Understanding of fleet management and vehicle maintenance, with the ability to ensure compliance and efficiency
* Skilled in overseeing complex multi‑site branch operations and ensuring all activities align with safety and compliance requirements
* Previous experience managing a P&L, driving financial performance while overseeing operational costs and maintenance
* Excellent ability to engage with staff, contractors, and senior management, fostering a collaborative and effective working environment
* Strong stakeholder management skills
