Raytheon Australia, a trusted partner in Australia's defence capabilities for over 20 years, is leading the modernisation of critical air traffic management systems that provide military and civilian air traffic control capabilities for the RAAF. We are seeking a Cyber Systems Engineer to join our team, working on a critical capability assurance program involved in essential system upgrades, addressing obsolescence challenges, and enhancing cybersecurity posture.

Role and Responsibilities
As our Cyber Systems Engineer, you will serve as the cybersecurity technical authority for this nationally important modernisation program. Working within our experienced engineering delivery team, you will lead all aspects of cybersecurity from initial threat assessment through to operational security accreditation. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex, multi-classification security environments while ensuring compliance with the most current defence security frameworks and standards.
- Lead the complete security accreditation process to achieve Authority to Operate certification for the modernised systems
- Develop comprehensive security documentation including threat assessments, security plans, and cyber worthiness evaluations
- Conduct threat modelling and cybersecurity risk assessments for system modernisation activities
- Coordinate security control implementation with the engineering team and validate security measures through testing and verification
- Interface with defence certification authorities and customer cybersecurity stakeholders throughout the program lifecycle
Qualifications, Experience and Skills
Essential
- University degree in a relevant engineering discipline with demonstrated cybersecurity expertise
- Minimum 5 years of relevant cybersecurity experience with advanced knowledge of the cyber security domain
- System security training with practical experience in security accreditation processes and frameworks
- Proven experience in threat modelling, risk assessment, and security control implementation methodologies
- Knowledge of Australian security legislation and defence security frameworks including classification systems and compliance standards
Desirable:
- Skilled cybersecurity certifications such as CISSP, GIAC, or CRISC demonstrating advanced technical competency
- Practical experience with defence security accreditation processes including Secret and Top-Secret system certifications
- Background in penetration testing and security information and event management systems with hands-on technical expertise
Successful candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Baseline Security clearance as needed. Eligibility can be found at defence.gov.au/agsva
