An excellent opportunity exists for a highly motivated and experienced Birth Unit midwife with demonstrated skills in leadership, employee engagement, clinical excellence and patient experience to lead a highly skilled and experienced team of midwives and nurses at a private hospital in Sydney.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As the NUM, you will work in partnership with the Obstetricians. You will be responsible for all aspects of patient care, developing and maintaining safe and evidence-based clinical practices and excellent clinical outcomes, patient satisfaction, and human, financial and material resource management.
Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
Strategic and operational maternity services planning;
Workforce planning, development and management of midwives and nurses within BU and SCN;
Management of key performance indicators, quality projects and adherence to the NSQHS Standards;
Development and review of policies;
Knowledge of WHS rules and regulations;
NSW Health reporting
Birth registry.
REQUIREMENTS
Current AHPRA registration as a Midwife;
Bachelor of Midwifery or Graduate Diploma in Midwifery (if Bachelor of Nursing is the first qualification);
Minimum of 5 years of birth unit midwifery clinical care with demonstrated evidence-based care and contemporary practice;
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
Ability to build strong relationships with Obstetricians and Paediatricians;
Demonstrated ability to lead a team, coach, mentor and manage change;
A commitment to a high standard of patient satisfaction;
Be innovative and resourceful;
Intermediate computer skills;
Proven understanding of Quality and HR systems and relevant policies and procedures;
Post-graduate qualification in health management or working towards.

ABOUT THE FACILITY
The hospital, located in Sydney's North West, is a busy high acuity facility. The Women's Health Unit comprises 7 birthing suites, 7 level II Special care nursery beds and a 37-bed postnatal and gynaecology ward. With around 1500 births per annum, the department is supported by dedicated Obstetricians, Paediatricians and Gynaecologists.
