Funeral Media Role (Level 1–3)


William Barrett and Sons Funeral Directors – Bunbury, WA

Full-time

William Barrett and Sons is seeking a capable and creative person to join our Media Department. This role supports families and our broader team through high-quality design and media work that reflects the care, dignity, and professionalism of our services.

The appointment level (1–3) will be determined by the successful applicant's demonstrated skills, prior experience, and relevant qualifications. We are open to emerging talent with strong foundations, as well as experienced designers ready to step into a higher-responsibility role.

About the Role


You will be part of a small, supportive team producing a wide range of design and media materials for funerals services. The work is meaningful, detail-driven, and often time-sensitive, requiring both creativity and calm reliability.

Key Responsibilities

* Design and produce funeral stationery and service materials (orders of service and other printing, photo tributes, other memorial items)
* Prepare print-ready files and manage production deadlines with accuracy
* Create digital content for screens
* Support brand consistency across all public and internal communications
* Work closely with funeral consultants and operational teams to meet family needs
* Contribute to ongoing improvement of templates, workflows, and visual standards

What We're Looking For


Essential

* Proven graphic design skills with a portfolio of real work
* Confidence using industry design software (Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent)
* Strong eye for layout, typography, and visual storytelling
* High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
* Professionalism and sensitivity working in a bereavement setting
* Clear communication and ability to collaborate well with others

Desirable

* Experience in media production (video, animation, photography, social media)
* Understanding of print processes and file preparation
* Prior work in client-facing or emotionally sensitive environments

Level Classification (1–3)

* Level 1: Developing designer with foundational skills, good software confidence, and a strong portfolio showing potential.
* Level 2: Competent designer with solid professional experience, able to manage a typical workload independently.
* Level 3: Experienced designer/media professional with strong capability across design and production, able to lead complex work and contribute to department standards and workflow improvements.

(Level will be set after interview based on evidence of capability.)
