Baked on Red Hill is seeking a skilled and experienced Retail Manager to oversee the daily operations
of our busy bakery retail business. This is a full time position offering an annual salary of $76,515
plus 12% superannuation.
About the Role
The Retail Manager will be responsible for planning, organising, and controlling the overall daily
operations of the bakery's retail and market activities. The successful applicant must have a
minimum of 2 years' relevant work experience in retail management.
Key Responsibilities
Retail Operations Management
Plan, organise and control daily operations of the bakery retail business.
Manage opening procedures and coordinate production schedules (bread, pies, sausage
rolls) to meet demand and sales targets.
Oversee store presentation, merchandising, and visual displays to maximise sales and
customer engagement.
Manage point-of-sale systems, including verifying and balancing daily cash floats and
monitoring revenue.
Analyse daily and weekly sales performance and adjust operations to improve profitability.
Implement pricing strategies in consultation with the business owner, considering market
trends and competitor pricing.
Staff Management
Recruit, train and supervise staff, including baristas and retail assistants.
Prepare and manage staff rosters, ensuring adequate staffing levels and compliance with
workplace requirements.
Monitor staff performance and provide ongoing training and operational guidance.
Customer Service & Compliance
Handle customer enquiries, complaints, feedback, and special orders to maintain high
service standards.
Oversee workplace health and food safety compliance, including temperature monitoring
and record keeping.
Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of retail and kitchen areas in accordance with health
regulations.
Stock & Supplier Management
Manage stock control and inventory systems, including ordering milk, coffee, packaging, and
other supplies.
Negotiate with suppliers and monitor stock levels to control costs and minimise wastage.
Marketing & Promotions
Develop and implement promotional activities, including social media advertising and local
marketing initiatives.
Weekend / Market Operations
Plan and coordinate wholesale order preparation and stock allocation.
Organise and manage market stall operations, including setup, merchandising, POS systems,
and logistics.
Supervise staff during market trading hours and monitor sales performance.
Manage cash handling and reconcile daily sales.
Evaluate market performance and report outcomes to the business owner.
Selection Criteria
Minimum 2 years' experience in a retail management role.
Strong leadership and organisational skills.
Demonstrated experience in staff management and training.
Experience in stock control, supplier liaison, and sales analysis.
Sound knowledge of workplace health and food safety standards.
