Not someone who wants to sit behind a desk posting generic social tiles. We're looking for someone sport-obsessed who genuinely understands clubland, community sport, athlete culture and how modern sports content actually works.
This is a unique opportunity to join the growing team behind PROTEQT — a smart mouthguard and impact monitoring platform focused on concussion management, brain health and player welfare across grassroots and elite sport.
The role sits inside a fast‐moving sports tech business working across marketing, social media, partnerships, PR, ambassadors and community activation.
You'll work closely with Adrianne Sarkozy, National Campaign & Partnerships Manager, Chris Davis, Chief Marketing Officer, and our external PR/media teams, with exposure to major sporting organisations, schools, clubs, athletes and high-profile ambassadors.
About the role
This is a hands‐on, highly varied role covering content creation, social media management, community activation, partnerships and grassroots storytelling.
A major part of the role will be owning the day‐to‐day management of PROTEQT's social media platforms — including content planning, posting, curation, scheduling and community engagement.
You'll help build a consistent, authentic content engine across key platforms and make sure PROTEQT shows up regularly with content that feels real, relevant and connected to the sporting community.
What you'll be doing
* Managing PROTEQT's social media channels end‐to‐end
* Planning, curating, scheduling and posting content
* Capturing content at clubs, schools, training sessions, games and activations
* Creating short‐form video for Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn and other platforms
* Managing content calendars and posting rhythms
* Supporting day‐to‐day community management
* Identifying content opportunities across ambassadors, clubs, schools and partners
* Supporting club, school and grassroots activations
* Attending weekend sport and community events where required
* Helping coordinate ambassador content and media opportunities
* Supporting PR campaign rollout and media activity
* Assisting with partnership activations across leagues, clubs, schools and sporting organisations
* Turning real stories from the sporting community into strong social content
One day you might be filming content at a local footy club.
The next you could be helping coordinate a media opportunity with a high‐profile ambassador or supporting an activation with a national sporting organisation.
This role is for someone comfortable being hands‐on — filming, editing, posting, coordinating, talking to people, finding stories and making things happen.
What we're looking for
This role would likely suit someone early in their career who already has strong exposure to sport, club environments, content creation and community engagement.
You don't need to have played elite sport, but you do need to genuinely understand sport.
Ideally, you've played AFL or AFLW at a strong level, been around club environments, worked in sport, or spent enough time in grassroots and community sport to really "get it".
You should understand:
* AFL / AFLW
* NRL
* NFL
* Basketball
* Hockey
* Grassroots and school sport culture
* How sport content works on social media today
* What feels authentic versus what feels overly corporate
Most importantly, you need to genuinely love sport and understand how community sport operates in the real world — from local footy clubs and school carnivals through to elite pathways.
The lifestyle
This is not a standard 9–5 corporate role.
There will be weekend work across grassroots sport, school competitions, training sessions and community activations — but flexibility goes both ways. If you're working Saturday at junior footy, you'll take time back during the week.
The role is hybrid, based out of our South Melbourne office, with flexibility around how work gets done.
From June through September, the successful candidate will also work alongside an experienced external PR team supporting campaign rollout, media engagement and strategic communications — providing great exposure and development opportunities.
Why this role is different
* Full‐time role in a fast‐growing sports technology business
* Own and shape PROTEQT's social media presence
* Work in one of the biggest emerging categories in sport: concussion, brain health and player welfare
* Real exposure to sport, media, partnerships, ambassadors and PR
* Access to elite and grassroots sporting environments
* Help grow a genuinely purpose‐driven sports technology business
* Fast‐moving, entrepreneurial environment
* No two weeks will look the same
