The Commonwealth Games - an international, multi-sport event involving athletes from the 72 member nations of the Commonwealth - is coming to Victoria in 2026!
Millions worldwide will watch the thriving regional centres of Geelong, Bendigo, Ballarat, Gippsland and Shepparton host a jam-packed schedule of 20 sports, nine para sports, the Games ceremonies and festival program that together will showcase the best of Regional Victoria.
The Victoria 2026 Commonwealth Games Organising Committee (Victoria 2026) will deliver the Games. Together with the State of Victoria, the Commonwealth Games Federation and Commonwealth Games Australia, it is tasked with organising a world-class event for athletes, spectators, locals and the Commonwealth of Nations.
Reporting to a variety of key stakeholders, this new role is responsible for:
- Preparation of financial analysis to support the Financial Planning & Analysis function and other business areas in decision making
- Maintenance of financial models to support budget development and tracking against actual expenditure, including workforce costs
- Monitoring and reporting of functions spend and financial commitments
- Supporting Finance Business Partners in promoting delivery of a cost-effective Games, identifying opportunities for efficiencies through cross-functional analysis and financial insight.
- Assisting in preparation and maintenance of financial data and knowledge
- Liaising with the Financial Management team and other corporate functions to support the smooth running of the finance and requisitions system
- Assisting in the commercial evaluation of tender responses including performing of scenario analysis.
- Co-ordination of finance-wide planning and budgeting exercises
Desired Experience / Qualifications
- Qualified Accountancy Qualification or part-qualification will be well regarded.
- Experience in a similar finance role.
- Intermediate to advanced MS Excel
- Proven success building outstanding working relationships with a variety of key stakeholders
Position Specific Requirements
- This position may have a requirement to work shift work or out of hours work will be required that will involve evening or weekend work including occasional overnight travel.
- Employees will be required to travel throughout Metropolitan Melbourne and Regional Victoria as necessary.
