Technical Coordinator, Sustainability & Environmental Science
Full-time, Ongoing position at HEW Level 8. Hawkesbury campus with some cross-campus support required. Salary: $118,969 – $132,069 per annum, plus 17% Super and Leave Loading.
Lead technical operations that support world‐class environmental and sustainability research in unique outdoor research environments.
The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity to lead a highly skilled technical team supporting innovative environmental science and sustainability research across Western Sydney University.
Working closely with academics, researchers and technical staff, you will coordinate the delivery of high-quality technical support across specialist outdoor research facilities, including the globally recognised EucFACE research site and associated infrastructure. Your work will directly contribute to research that explores the impacts of climate and environmental change and supports scientific discovery with real‐world impact.
In this role, you'll balance hands‐on technical involvement with team leadership and operational coordination. You'll oversee staff rostering, workload planning, performance development and day‐to‐day operational activities, ensuring research facilities and services run safely, efficiently and effectively. You'll also coordinate access to facilities, manage procurement and support the maintenance and ongoing improvement of specialised equipment and infrastructure.
Operating within a collaborative multi‐campus environment, you'll work closely with other technical teams and stakeholders across the University to support research outcomes, maintain strong safety and compliance standards, and drive continuous improvement initiatives across Teaching and Research Technical Services.

* Continuous improvement initiatives strengthen operational efficiency and service delivery across technical operations.
* A relevant degree or equivalent experience in environmental science, ecology, agriculture or a related field.
* Demonstrated leadership experience managing technical teams in outdoor or field‐based research environments.
* Proven experience providing technical support to multidisciplinary research projects.
* Strong capability in managing research facilities and specialised equipment.
* Excellent problem‐solving, planning and organisational skills, with clear written and verbal communication.
