Business Development Manager (BDM)
As we enter a new phase of growth, we are looking for a strategic, commercially minded Business Development Managerto help identify and secure local and interstate contract opportunities.
About the Role
This is a senior-level opportunity for someone with a proven track record in government procurement, manufacturing, and technical sales. You'll play a key role in identifying new markets, managing tenders, and strengthening long-term relationships with government and industry clients.
While our head office is in Maryborough, this role is open to candidates based anywhere in SE QLDand offers hybrid flexibility, with a requirement for some local and interstate travel.
What You'll Do
* Identify and qualify contract opportunities via QTender, AusTender, VendorPanel, etc.
* Lead the preparation and submission of high-quality tenders, EOIs, and capability responses.
* Collaborate with internal teams to ensure proposals are accurate, compliant, and competitive.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with procurement leads, councils, and commercial clients.
* Maintain a live opportunity pipeline and provide strategic market reporting to the GM and Board.
What You'll Bring
Required:
* 5+ years in a business development, tendering, or commercial role (ideally in manufacturing, Defence, or government sectors).
* Strong knowledge of government procurement processes and compliance requirements.
* Proven ability to win commercial or government contracts.
* Confident in engaging technical concepts and presenting value to decision-makers.
* High levels of initiative, professionalism, and attention to detail.
Desirable:
* Experience in sectors such as transport, Defence, infrastructure, utilities, or emergency services.
* Knowledge of ISO standards, WHS legislation, and QA frameworks.
* Familiarity with the Fraser Coast region and industry landscape.
* Qualifications in business, engineering, or project management.
* Experience in estimating/costing for manufacturing.
* An existing contact network in industry and government with the ability to leverage relationships.
