The Company

Robert Half Executive Search has been retained to identify an accomplished Commercial leader, ideally with start-up exposure, for the position of Commercial Manager with a global remit to expand an exciting, newly created business unit within an international, well-established and market-leading company with headquarters in Europe.

This newly formed business unit will be focused on delivering highly specialised SaaS solutions. With a target market of the General Insurance Sector, the firm’s B2B technology platform will offer clients seamless and unique procurement, supply chain, insurance automation and cost-saving solutions.

Reporting to the Global CEO of this business unit, the successful individual will play an integral role in the growth and market expansion globally of this specialty line of service. Additionally, the Commercial Manager will help lead and shape the strategic direction of the scaling Insurtech business, with this role offering the chance to drive the next phase of growth and innovation by building a technology offering on the back of an already established business.

The Role

The successful candidate is expected to leverage the firm's existing clients and will oversee and lead the strategic commercial activities of this SaaS business, playing a pivotal role in scaling revenues, expanding market share both locally and globally, and managing high-level customer relationships.

As a key member of the Insurtech executive team, the Commercial Manager will bring to life the opportunity for local and global customers and will create a core team from scratch that will design and execute on the firm’s Insurtech strategy.

This Commercial Manager position offers a dynamic and challenging opportunity for an experienced commercial leader to shape the future of this growing business unit and will suit someone who identifies as a strategic thinker, a skilled negotiator, an engaging influencer of senior stakeholders and an innovative leader.

This opportunity will appeal to an ambitious individual who is excited by the scale-up opportunity ahead and driven to make a meaningful impact on delivering innovative strategies and enhancing customer experiences.

The Commercial Manager will collaborate closely with Sales, Marketing, Product and Finance teams to develop and implement commercial strategies, optimize pricing, and accelerate customer acquisition and retention. The role will demand a balance of leadership, market insight and analytical skills to drive business growth and deliver exceptional customer outcomes.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate must be able to plan and orchestrate a range of go-to-market and operational activities and thrive in a busy start-up environment with a broad remit. The area of responsibility for this role is diverse and requires a mindset with the capability to solve problems at speed, challenge the status quo and work across multiple teams whilst delivering innovative solutions.

Currently in a highly commercial position in an Insurance, an Insurtech, or a SaaS (or other technology business) with accommodation insurance clients as a target market, the successful candidate will likely have spent some of their career successfully contributing business development and scaling a tech business.

Conversationally confident in presenting a compelling value proposition to customers, this individual is a proactive, high achiever with experience of working in complex matrix environments.

The ideal candidate must be able to develop and execute innovative commercial strategies, optimise pricing models, and accelerate customer acquisition and retention efforts.

* Industry Expertise: Deep experience in the insurance industry, ideally with an understanding of property claims, or insurance procurement and supply chain. An entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to identify and deliver value across the insurance claims process.
* Strategic Vision: Ability to think strategically and execute plans that drive business growth and market expansion.
* Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and team-building capabilities, with a collaborative approach and the ability to work with multiple stakeholders.
* Global Perspective: Experience and a passion for scaling businesses. Self-motivated and the ability to thrive in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
