Location :John Hunter Hospital | Rankin Park Centre (Awabakal Country)

Applications Close :Sunday 11th January 2026

Where you'll be working

This role is based at the Rankin Park Centre, with opportunities to also work across E1 at John Hunter Hospital and 5D at Maitland. You'll be right in the middle of rehabilitation services across multiple sites, linking in with teams to make sure patients move smoothly from acute care into rehab and beyond. If you love variety, collaboration and seeing the bigger picture, you'll feel right at home here.

About the role

As a Clinical Nurse Consultant in Rehabilitation, you'll be the connector, problem solver and clinical leader behind great rehab care. You'll review patients for rehab suitability, support seamless transitions between services and help shape clear, effective care pathways.

You won't just work with patients either. You'll partner with multidisciplinary teams to improve how rehab services run day to day. That means spotting gaps, refining processes, rolling out evidence based practice and helping complex patients get where they need to go. From stroke pathways and continence strategies to discharge planning and tailored rehab solutions, your influence will be felt across the whole service.

Why this role is special

This is a role with real impact. You're not only supporting individual patients, you're helping lift the quality of rehabilitation care across the district. You'll have space to think, lead, innovate and advocate, while staying clinically connected. Plus, you'll link in with other CNCs across the John Hunter Hospital network, so you're never working in isolation.

About you

You've got experience in rehabilitation and you're keen to work across a mix of specialties like debility, spinal cord injury, orthopaedics, stroke and neurological conditions. You enjoy working with multidisciplinary teams, you're open to feedback and you're confident sharing your own insights too. You're thoughtful, proactive and passionate about best practice care that actually works for patients.

How you'll be supported

You'll receive orientation and handover to help you settle into the role, plus regular monthly accountability meetings aligned with the CNC Framework. You'll report to the NUM of South Ward and have ongoing opportunities to collaborate with other CNCs, build networks and keep growing as a clinical leader.
