Where You'll Be Working
Based at Newcastle Community Health Centre on Hunter Street, you'll join Hunter New England's Drug and Alcohol Clinical Services (DACS) – a large, multidisciplinary service focused on supporting people impacted by substance use.
In this research-focused role, you'll work alongside both clinical and research staff in a collaborative, professional, and supportive environment. The DACS team is enthusiastic about welcoming a new colleague and fostering your success. This is a fixed-term opportunity with the potential for extension.
About The Role
You'll be actively involved in research-related activities, engaging with clients to support screening and study participation. Your week will involve:
* Following research protocols and ethical guidelines
* Conducting respectful client screenings and interviews
* Accurately collecting and documenting data for research
* Analysing findings and contributing to care planning, where appropriate
* Ensuring client safety and wellbeing remains a top priority
There is the potential for travel, so a current driver's licence is required.
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
* Empathetic and non-judgemental in their approach
* Comfortable working with vulnerable populations in a research or clinical setting
* Skilled at setting and maintaining professional and ethical boundaries
* Highly organised with strong documentation skills
* Committed to confidentiality, safety, and evidence-informed practice
Requirements
* Current NSW Driver's Licence and willingness to travel for work purposes
* Current registration as a Registered Nurse with Authority to Practice with AHPRA.
* Experience or interest in drug and alcohol, mental health, or community health settings
