St Thomas More College is a prestigious Catholic university residential college for young women and men in Perth, Western Australia. Affiliated with the University of Western Australia, "Tommy More" has a rich history and a commitment to providing a supportive and inclusive environment for its 400 student residents. The College has approximately 40 full time and part time employees.
Responsibilities
This Role
This is an inaugural role, responsible for establishing and implementing human resources systems, policies and processes across St Thomas More College.
Reporting directly to the Head of College, you will be tasked with building HR infrastructure from the ground up, with delegated authority to implement performance management, employee relations and compliance frameworks, supporting the College\'s operational requirements and strategic objectives.
As a member of the College's leadership team, you will collaborate with management and staff to drive consistent people management standards and strengthen professionalism, while fostering a positive and safe workplace culture.
The role will also support the College's obligations under the National Code for the Prevention and Response to Gender-Based Violence in Higher Education through policy, training and employment practice alignment.
About You
We seek a proactive and focused human resources professional with demonstrated experience across recruitment, performance management, employee relations and HR systems implementation.
Relevant tertiary qualification in human resources management, business or a related discipline is anticipated.
Demonstrated experience establishing HR systems, policies and processes, ideally in a start-up or growth environment is required.
You will also have a sound working knowledge of Australian employment legislation and be comfortable managing employee relations matters with sound judgement and a solutions-focused approach.
Whilst not essential, experience working in the education, residential accommodation, hospitality or not-for-profit sectors will be regarded highly.
Personal qualities of empathy, discretion and integrity are important prerequisites.
An understanding of, and respect for the Catholic identity, values and ethos of the College, and the ability to support these in a residential college environment is also anticipated.
This position offers flexibility to accommodate work-life balance requirements. Arrangements to accommodate school hours or other commitments will be considered for the right candidate. The position is based at St Thomas More College in Crawley with some flexibility for occasional remote work where appropriate.
