Position Information
Richmond High School, situated in the Hawkesbury, is a comprehensive 7-12 high school providing quality educational opportunities to a local enrolment stream, a support stream with 7 classes, an ag-stem specialty stream and an ag-stem selective stream.
Approximately 780 students are enrolled in 2025. This includes 53 students in the support unit, with 15% of our student body identifying as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. Our school will continue to grow in coming years. The school is committed to excellence in teaching and learning where all students can succeed. Our staff are committed to explicit teaching, engaging HPGE learners and maintaining a caring, inclusive setting for all students. We offer a comprehensive curriculum, including a full range of academic core, elective and vocational courses. Our school has an extensive range of extracurricular activities and a supportive wellbeing program.
General Selection Criteria
- Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
- Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
- Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
- Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
- Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
- Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Specific Selection Criteria
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria, applicants should demonstrate:
- Demonstrated ability and expertise in leading staff to develop and implement flexible and innovative learning programs designed to enhance student engagement and support the needs of students with additional learning requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to foster positive relationships with students, their families, and external agencies to collaborate, develop, and implement individualised wellbeing and transition support to ensure successful pathways for students with specific additional learning needs.
- Demonstrated ability to lead the design and implementation of highly differentiated educational programs for students from diverse backgrounds to foster a high-expectations learning culture.
- Highly developed organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to maintain effective partnerships with students, parents, the community, and colleagues to support learning and engagement.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
